Toronto International Student Program
The Toronto Public School Board welcomes elementary and secondary students from around the world to attend our schools. Our schools have highly qualified teachers and counselors, as well as a wide range of academic, business, technology and other well-designed special programs of world standard.
We also offer ESL programs at various levels for international students. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the rapid and smooth integration of international students into the formal learning curriculum.
Our goal is to help each student achieve maximum success and to promote the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for them to become stalwarts of a democratic society.
Ontario's Education System
All provincial schools are under the supervision of the Ontario Ministry of Education. Students aged six and older are enrolled in grades one to eight, depending on their age, and in secondary schools from grade 9 to grade 12.
School Year
Classes are held from September to June
Christmas break around mid-December, two weeks off
Spring break in mid-March, one week off
Course Selection
There are a variety of courses available in each of the secondary school subjects. Within each subject area, students can further specialize according to their personal interests.
All English-speaking universities in Canada require a high level of English proficiency. Therefore, when choosing a program of study, students should have a clear plan in mind.
